Chocolate Soufflé

The Great British Bake Off 2015, Week 9 – Chocolate.

This week the bakers had to make soufflés for the technical challenge. I've never eaten or made a soufflé but have always wanted to. I remember watching someone make soufflés years ago on a cooking program and being fascinated by it – I think because they look quite tricky, and I do love a challenge.

I tried to find the recipe the bakers used on bake off, I'm not sure it's the exact one but it's a Mary Berry recipe. I don't think I had the correct soufflé dish but I made do with what I had in my cupboard, I think I'd of had a taller dessert if my dish had been right.

It wasn't too complicated to make, broken down it's a Chocolate Creme Patisserie and a Meringue gently folded together and baked. The result is almost like eating a hot chocolate mousse, it's really light in texture, I'm sure I could have eaten a whole one to myself – I did go back for seconds!

Now that I've finally made a soufflé I can't wait to try out some other recipes, it really is worth the trouble of making one, it's a beautiful thing.

In 2015 I made it through to the last 50 in the last audition of The Great British Bake Off. Sadly I wasn't chosen for the programme but I need to carry on my journey as I can't imagine my life without baking.

I'd love to start writing my own recipes. So what better place to do it than starting a blog.
