Vintage Cake Decorated with Rose and Anemone Flowers

This was a really lovely cake to make, the design brief was right up my street. Vintage feel, flowers, gorgeous colours with a bit of hessian in a buttercream finish.

This was made for a special birthday celebration, the whole surprise party had the same vintage theme and the venue had been decorated beautifully when I arrived to set up the cake. The flowers on the cake have to be my favourite part, large half open Roses in a vintage cream colour, soft pink Anemone and pastel Hydrangea's. They were so pretty I wanted to keep them.

Inside the top tier of the cake was brown sugar salted caramel cake, with layers of caramel and salted caramel buttercream. The bottom tier was layers of vanilla cake soaked with vanilla syrup, filled with strawberry conserve and vanilla buttercream. The whole cake was covered in a vanilla buttercream coloured pretty pastel shades with a hand painted fondant details. I had lovely feedback on the cake, everyone said how fantastic it was.

In 2015 I made it through to the last 50 in the last audition of The Great British Bake Off. Sadly I wasn't chosen for the programme but I need to carry on my journey as I can't imagine my life without baking.

I'd love to start writing my own recipes. So what better place to do it than starting a blog.
