So near but yet so far

I've been baking for years now, but more seriously since I went on maternity leave 6 years ago. It was that year that The Great British Bake Off began, I was instantly hooked.

Watching all the challenges the bakers faced each week inspired me so much. I loved trying all these new things out myself, and wanted to see how I would fair in the technical challenges. I've learnt so much from watching each series and trying out new things with each weeks theme.

The ultimate baking challenge would be to be in the tent myself.

At the end of last year (2014) I sent in my application with photos of my baking for the third time! This time I made it through to the last stage of auditions and the last 50. Sadly I wasn't chosen for the programme – It was heart breaking to have got so near but yet so far.

I wanted to have a go and see what I was capable of. I wonder how far I would have gone if I'd got on the show. I guess we'll never know now.

Baking has taken over my life, if I'm not baking I'm thinking about baking or looking through a recipe book. It's what makes me happy, and keeps me sane!

After The Great British Bake Off rejection I've decided to carry on my baking journey, I'm not sure what I want to do with it but I can't imagine a life without baking. I keep learning and challenging myself to be better.

I'd love to start writing my own recipes – so what better place to do it than starting my blog.

In 2015 I made it through to the last 50 in the last audition of The Great British Bake Off. Sadly I wasn't chosen for the programme but I need to carry on my journey as I can't imagine my life without baking.
